In a first for Winter Animal Hospital, three
sisters, Sadie, Sally and Sophie Benedix were named as May Pet
of the Month. Their caregivers, Courtney Benedix and Dan
McWilliams are justifiably proud of the honor! |

Meet Sophie, she like her sisters is a
rescue dog from Leon County Shelter.
She is seven years old, and will turn eight
in August. |
Sophie is the "Granddam" of the family
and, despite her looks (some might say
American Pit Bull), has shown love
and acceptance towards her other sisters
(and the occasional cat). |

Sally is a rescue dog from Gadsden County.
In fact, she was saved from the shelter there
after being nabbed by Animal Control. |
Sally came to live with Courtney and Dan
in March 2008. When examined by Dr. Greg,
he thought she was about two years old at the time. |

She and her sisters are all very photogenic! |

Last but not least there is Sadie.
Like her sisters, Sadie was a rescue dog
only in this case she picked Courtney
and Dan (having shown up in their carport).
Dr. Greg thinks Sadie is about 10 years old. |
Sadie appears to have had a tough life,
but as you can see from the before and
after, it is never to late to rescue a dog,
even a senior dog! She is a
loving and accepting dog. |

Courtney Benedix and Dan McWilliams thank Dr. Greg Winter and Dr. Tera Winters
as well as the staff for the wonderful care they have provided
and continue to provide to Sophie, Sally, Sadie and all the cats
that have come and gone. Thanks especially to Dr. Tera for
her wonderful surgery to repair Sophie's torn ACL. Not
sure what the dog equivalent of Tommy John surgery is, but
Sophie is back pitching. Your webmaster, who is
also the
three sisters' grandparent/dog sitter, greatly appreciates the
honor of Winter Animal Hospital naming Sophie, Sally and Sadie
as pets of the month!
